On Thursday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m., Pace Communications, publishing company of Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine, will unveil the 24-page feature on the Midland/Odessa region in its February issue. The press conference will take place at Atmos Energy’s Robert Earl and Sally Fischer Community Room, 2304 Loop 40, Midland, Texas 79706.

“We selected Midland and Odessa as a result of common misconceptions associated with the state,” explains Carsten Morgan, director of Special Projects for Pace Airline Media, which publishes the magazine. “The reality of economic development initiatives and the diversity of the industrial/commercial sector are far more interesting than the perception. This is an untold story that truly is enlightening to our affluent and influential audience,” Morgan said.

The magazine reaches about 3.2 million affluent business and leisure travelers who use the airline to travel to more than 65 cities, 33 states and 3,400 flights a day.

“Rock Relief for Haiti’

WHERE:  Centennial Plaza (located in downtown Midland)

WHEN:  Tomorrow Afternoon (Wed, Jan 27th)

TIME:  4:30-7 PM

WHY:  Proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross’ special relief fund for Haiti

Donations of ANY amount will be collected at a designated donation station set-up by the American Red Cross. 

The concert is FREE to all ages. 

Bring chairs and blankets.  Food and drink will be available.  

‘Rock Relief’ will be a non-alcoholic event suitable for families and all ages and will happen rain or shine.  

In the event of ill-weather, ‘Rock Relief’ will be held in the main ballroom inside the Hilton (across the street from Centennial Plaza).

We are back.  The Midland Downtown Farmers’ Market will be in operation for three Saturdays this Winter/Spring.  The first of the three will be this Saturday, January 23.  The following two market days will be Feburary 20 and March 6th.  Our hours will be shortened during these days from 9a.m.-12p.m.  Prior to these dates I will remind you. 

This week:

Fresh local produce including, but not limited to, radishes, carrots, greens, turnips, herbs, and much more; relishes, pickles, and salsas; photograpy; jewelry; baked goods; doggy treats; cutting boards;  coffee and possibly more.

Now for a bit of business.  I need help, and this time I’m ready to accept it.  I need help organizing and running each market day, sending email updates, and running the market booth (coffee, books, and merchandise sales).  If you are interested in participating in a more sustainable and self-sufficient community, come talk to me at the market and I can fill you in on the details.  Thanks.
