Midland County Public Library
Another answer to the question, what is there to do in Midland, Texas? When I was a kid, I (Cory) was a book worm. Okay, a book nerd. During the summers, I would beg my parents to take me to the Ector County library so that I could check out 5 Nancy Drew books at a time (they had a limit, only 5 books per author or subject per visit). In any case, this article in the MRT brought back those memories. In a time where most of us can’t afford huge shopping sprees at Barnes & Noble, the library downtown is a fantastic resource for adults and kids!

Did you also know that the library has a second branch on W. Wadley and Midkiff, in the Imperial Shopping Center near Murray’s? Both branches have an excellent website with their locations and hours:

Check out their Fall activities! Starting Sept. 8 at the downtown library:
Preschool storytime: 10 a.m. Wednesdays (3- to 5-year-olds)
Babes in Book Land :9:30 to 9:50 a.m. Thursdays (ages birth to 18 months)
Tots and Tales Storytime: 10:30 a.m. Thursday ( 18 months to 3-year-olds)
Winter hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, also will resume after Labor Day.
[We do have to warn you about one thing: If you are going to the Downtown location, do NOT park in the parking lot across the street from the entrance! The free parking is in the fenced area SOUTH of the library. Do not park in the parking lot on Missouri… there is a faded sign that says No Parking, or Private Parking, and the men that own the lot watch with their binoculars from their office and will boot your car immediately (They make tons of money doing this, and they do not care if that was the last place in Midland to park, you’re standing in the pouring rain in your best suit, and you only parked there for five minutes. Trust me on this. Chris said I was the only person in Midland unaware of this parking lot scam). Thank goodness we are getting more parking Downtown!]
